This season's Highlights
Is it really December already?! Where did 2017 go?? I swear I just took down my Christmas lights from last year...don't judge! Haha!! Fall is my very favorite time of year and it was full of all kinds of festivities! I just had so much fun celebrating the season with you all! Here are a few of the fabulous events from around Nebraska that BB's got the chance to celebrate fall with y'all:
BB's got to help kick off the start of Kids Night at Hy-Vee in Grand Island with their Knee-High buffet. They had the most adorable buffet set up! Not only was it free food and balloons for the kiddos, they took the time to set their entire spread kid sized so the little ones could reach the buffet on their own. It was so cute and the kids loved it! Grand Island Hy-Vee is my FAVORITE Hy-Vee across the state. I've had the pleasure of working with them at numerous events and they are a WONDERFUL source for monthly family friendly events so check with them often!
Chapman Days is an annual fall festival in (you guessed it!) Chapman, NE and they really know how to put together a great event! There was seriously something for everyone. An old car show, wiener dog races, a parade, balloons, bounce houses, fire truck rides, a street dance AND the Husker football game playing throughout the locations in town. Kristina at Vlcek Gardens does an amazing job putting together a really fun, family friendly event that offers something for the kid in all of us. Be sure to check out Chapman Days next year!
Kids World Lincoln
KFRX (Alpha Media Productions) in Lincoln, NE put on this years first annual Kid's World event and it was a HIT! It was hosted at Speedway Village with a fantastic obstacle course to test your agility, at least a half dozen different bounce houses of all sizes set up, a mobile video game truck, food, music, dancing, in addition to over 20 vendors with different activities and (some really AWESOME!!) prizes for the whole family! To say it was fun filled day is an understatement. Plan on making a stop in Lincoln next year for Kid's World 2018.
Employee Appreciation Celebrations
Schneider Electric in Lincoln has such a great Fall Family Festival every year for their employees. They close down their entire plant to open it up for festivities to their employees and families. They had pumpkin painting, games galore, bounce houses, TWO face painters, balloons, AND a photo booth! This was my third year of having the pleasure of twisting up balloons for Schneider Electric's MVP's as well as their families and I can't wait to be back in 2018. Thank you, Schneider Electric!
Amur Equipment Finance in Grand Island celebrated ALL of their staff for customer service week this year. Every day that week they did something different for them. They had speakers, lunch-ins and on the last day of the week they ordered balloons for each and every person on their team. I had the joy of making over 80 green spotted leopards (their logo) for their staff to help show them how appreciated they are by Amur Equipment Finance for all that they do. What a cool idea and I'm so thankful I got to participate in this really neat celebration.
Fall Festivities around Central City
Everyone in Central City (& surrounding communities!!) knows the PLACE to be for a Fall Party is Dave & Diane Lewis'! Every year they do one unbelievable bash that gets bigger and bigger! This year, their Fall party had a hay rack ride, games, crafts, delicious treats, balloons, and a beautiful spot for pictures. They put TONS of time and energy into making a fabulous celebration for their family, friends and the community.
This year we teamed up to bring balloons not only to those who could attend the festivities at their home but also those who couldn't! In addition to BB's monthly visits to our community's patriarchs and matriarchs, we took the balloon decor from The Lewis' party to them to help continue the season's festivities! Not only did our senior residents LOVE the balloons so did all of the little Trick-or-Treaters on Halloween night who visited them. Thank you Dave and Diane Lewis for the wonderful Fall Party as well as helping some of my favorite community members really enjoy the celebration of the season.
Mini Monster Mash
I am an October baby and fall is my very VERY favorite time of year! I love everything pumpkin, scarecrows, candy, colorful leaves and the change of the seasons hinting of the holidays just around the corner. I love it all! This year I wanted to celebrate with a free event for the kiddos in our community and called it 'Mini Monster Mash'.
On the balloon end of life in addition to candy and stickers BB's made 100 various fall/Halloween themed balloons for each Mini Monster to take home. On the fitness end of life BB's created a Mini Monster obstacle course for the kiddos to run through to test their speed, agility and balance. We had backwards running, lily pad hops and a long jump. It was so much fun to lead the Mini Monsters of all different ages through the course and watch them light up with a sense of accomplishment once completed. I had just as much fun (if not more!) as the kiddos! Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate everything fall with me. :)
There is a group of people that have really captured my heart over the last year. A group of people who were some of our family's first teachers of values, principals, manners and morals. Pillars of wisdom who possess the responsibility of passing our history and heritage down to future generations. They are kind, patient, caring and always grateful.
Central City has close to 140 Grandpeople within our 3 care facilities around town. Each month it personally brings me SO MUCH JOY to spend time with them. I look forward to seeing them just as much as I know they look forward to seeing me. I really wanted to go over and beyond for them for Thanksgiving as an extra special way of saying THANK YOU for skipping bingo to come hang out with me. :) In the time I have with them, I do my best to get everyone who comes to watch the show a balloon but I'm not able to spread the joy to those who don't (or simply can't) come out.
I reached out to my family and friends to see if they would donate to bringing a small turkey to each and every Grandperson for Thanksgiving. For every $5 donated we were able to give 2 seniors a turkey. Thanks to my amazing network, not only did EVERY SINGLE Grandperson at Cottonwood Estates, Litzenberg Memorial Long Term Care and Central City Care Center receive a turkey for their room but my wonderful Uncle John sent a GIANT turkey to each of the care centers all the way from Hawaii! They LOVED THEM!!! It really and truly made each and every person smile!!! And THAT my friends, is what it's all about. It's about the joy something so simple brings to so many. It's knowing we were able to touch so many with a sprinkle of extra happiness that day. Thank you, thank you to you all for helping spread the love this Thanksgiving.
An extra and very special THANK YOU to all of my family and friends for donating to something so near and dear to my heart. I can't tell you all how much it meant to me to give EVERY senior in our care facilities a warm Thanksgiving wish from all of us. More importantly, I cannot express to you how much it meant to each of them to know they are very much loved, thought of and not forgotten.
Small Business Saturday
Small business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving to kick off of holiday shopping. It is a day that was created to encourage shoppers to patronize their small, local businesses. Central City Area Chamber of Commerce board member Ann Herbig, knows we are a thriving community FILLED with entrepreneurs as well as small, family owned and operated businesses. She rallied us together and organized "Making Memories on Main Street"!
Thanks to Ann and her team's efforts, we had over 50 Chamber Businesses participate in Small Business Saturday. WOW!!!! This was an ALL DAY event that offered something for every shopper. To start the day off there was a kick off breakfast for all the business owners hosted by Pinnacle Bank then it was off to the races for open houses, sales, Santa Sightings, movies as well as caroling and a gazebo lighting to bring a close to one amazing day.
Small business Saturday was also the kick off of our towns Passport Program (there's still time to win!!), selfie contests and receipt reimbursement drawings. Just by supporting our local businesses, shoppers have the chance to win up to $600 in Bison Bucks this holiday season!! Thank you so much Ann, her team, the Chamber and all of the sponsors for coordinating such a wonderful holiday shopping season for all of our local business, our customers and our community!
A very warm thank you to all who stopped by BB's to say Hi, get a balloon and their passport stamp on Small Business Saturday. I hope everyone enjoyed the balloons around town and got some fantastic pictures with Santa at the Solt-Wagner Community Room. Thank you for choosing to #ShopSmall with all of our Central City shops on Small Business Saturday!
The American Legion Club in Sutton, NE while taking part in their community's Parade of Lights, hosted the merriest of holiday celebrations because it was also their Grand Opening!! They offered a $5 buffet, free balloons and they were the starting location of their Chamber's scavenger hunt. The community came out in full support and packed the house! It was a truly fantastic night for Brian and Jenn Bonnell (owners) to celebrate the Grand Opening evening of their business with the entire town. I feel so privileged I was able to participate in such a special night for so many. Thank you Bonnell Family for having BB's at your festivities!
As the chapter of this year closes...
2017 has really been one amazing year for BB's and it is positively because of each and every one of YOU!! THANK YOU for having me joyously help celebrate so many times this year! I was given the chance to make others smile at some of their most difficult times, rejoice in your family's most special moments as well as sincerely learn what it means to give back. None of it would have been possible without all of you. Thank you for choosing BB's to help make some of your family's events and memories just a little extra special in 2017!
I simply cannot THANK Merrick Foundation enough for the opportunity they give to entrepreneurs with their Business Incubator program. I have never been within a community that harbors the growth of small businesses like Central City does. In addition to the chance Merrick Foundation provides small businesses to explore their dreams, they begin fostering entrepreneurship starting with our youngest future leaders. They provide young people the opportunity for camps to teach them the skills they need to start and run a successful business as well as the chance to put their business plan into action at the Loan Tree Days Sidewalk Sale. Merrick Foundation's 'Leading Locally' program matches students with a curriculum that builds leadership skills for future community leaders. How incredible is that!?! THANK YOU Merrick Foundation for what you do for our community, local businesses, entrepreneurs and our young people. An even BIGGER THANK YOU for giving BB's the time and freedom to try new things as a business as well as the hope of growth.
Being a business owner comes with so many learning curves. Some of your ideas will beautifully flourish while others will leave you feeling like you've literally just face planted into the ground. I can say I honestly know what it feels like to be utterly exhausted while absolutely exhilarated all at the same time.
Thankfully, I have one amazing support team on my side. I am beyond blessed to have Elliot and family as one phenomenal 'volunteer' staff!! From helping me blow up endless balloons, delivering crazy creations all over The Good Life State, allowing me the ability to have customers pick up balloons at Grosshans Inc. so I can be in other locations twisting away, to loaning me their adorable kiddos for countless pictures. I couldn't imagine doing what I do, on the level that I do with out the love and support from each of them. The Grosshans are an extraordinary group of people that I look to often for guidance both personally and professionally. My life and my business are truly enriched because of each of them and words cannot express my gratitude to them all.
Again, THANK YOU to each and every one of you for your friendship, allowing BB's to share in life's most special moments, supporting my business and cheering me on. I am so thankful and grateful to ALL of you. I look forward to continuing to grow as an artist, a business owner and as professional sprinkler of JOY in 2018!
I send my most heartfelt THANK YOU's while wishing everyone a wonderful, Holly Jolly, Merry and Bright, Holiday Season.
